Celebrate World Book Day at the Museum

“One of the most popular examples of Heath Robinson’s writing and illustrations is The Adventures of Uncle Lubin.”

Thursday 2 March is not only the first day of the Heath Robinson Museum’s extended opening programme – it is also World Book Day!  So we are celebrating both events with our new extended book range available from the Museum Shop.

The Shop Manager Judith Elliott says “We have a wide range of sought-after books to offer readers of all ages.  For children, one of the most popular examples of Heath Robinson’s writing and illustrations is ‘The Adventures of Uncle Lubin’ which was not available at the time of our museum opening but we have a reproduction now in stock and flying off the shelves. Many visitors who know and love this book from their childhood are coming to buy it now for their own children!”

Heath Robinson’s book “How to Live in a Flat” is also hugely popular. Considering this was first published in 1936, these stylish cartoons have enormous resonance for our modern age and will strike a chord with anyone trying to get a first step on the elusive property ladder.

A number of children’s books available in the shop also complement the museum’s Special Exhibition ‘The Brothers Robinson’, which runs until 26 March and features illustrations from William Heath Robinson’s older brothers Thomas and Charles. These books include ‘The Secret Garden’, ‘The Big Book of Fairy Tales’, ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ and ‘Fairy Tales’ from Hans Christian Andersen.

The Museum Shop also includes a full range of Heath Robinson and Pinner themed stationery and cards, prints, jewellery and gifts.

The Shop and Museum are open Thursday-Sunday 11am-5pm.
