Lecturers and staff from Harrow College were at the museum today to install an exciting new architectural design exhibition in the activity Studio. These 3-dimensional models were designed and made by students towards their UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Architecture, Interior and Product Design.

Inspired by Heath Robinson’s farcical illustrations of how to make the most of small spaces for the “How to live in a flat” book, the students produced designs for a small living space no larger a shipping container (just 15 square metres). These designs also had to be influenced by a 20th C architectural movement of their choice. Every requirement for a modern habitat had to be fitted into this tiny space, which required some tough choices, clever planning and design.

Admission to the mini-exhibition is included with your museum ticket.
