Leena has worked as a front of house volunteer at the Museum since 2017. An accountant living in Pinner but normally working in central London for a charity, Leena wanted an opportunity to volunteer locally and read about the Museum some years ago on a volunteering web site. Since joining us, Leena has come every weekend once a week to help front of house. The museum staff provided training on fire and health and safety and on how to use the cash till (probably not difficult for her given her career!) and she has been a much valued regular ever since.
For Leena, the “highs” are meeting the other volunteers and the different visitors, getting to know people and finding out more about how a museum works. The “lows” are when there are quiet days—she likes it busy.
Leena enjoys doing something that contributes to where she lives, as she says: “It’s feeling more part of the community I live in. I get to learn about the Pinner Association, Daisy’s, West House, and what’s going on, getting that special connection…”.
