The Maker’s Art – October 2018 to April 2019

As well as offering a range of products reflecting Heath Robinson’s work, the shop sells a selection of one-off items, designed and handmade by acclaimed, locally based artisans and artists.

The Maker’s Art is a contemporary range of jewellery, ceramics and textiles that complement the imagination and enchantment of Heath Robinson’s work. The makers change every six months – this is now our fifth group – adding more valuable creative partnerships and creating a distinctive decorative art marketplace at the Heath Robinson Museum.

Ann Brooks The ‘Silk Road’ Collection

Ann Brooks’s studies in basketry and hand weaving have led to a fascination with structure. Her colourways, inspired by the countryside, combine with the luxury of silk yarns and other fine natural fibres to create highly desirable and washable hand woven fabrics. Ann’s work has been showcased in galleries and she is an exhibiting member of The London Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers and the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild.

Laura Manners The ‘Brushstrokes’ Collection

During Laura’s art training, she discovered ceramics and found her perfect medium. As a ceramic artist and illustrator, Laura handcrafts and decorates earthenware pieces with a vibrant colour palette. The inspiration for her forms comes from the industrial landscape and her illustrations from dreams and her imagination. Laura is a member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and exhibits nationally at ceramic fairs.

Rashmi Murray The ‘Gaia’ Collection

Rashmi Murray specialises in designing and hand making decorative silver pieces that are inspired by nature. Her rhythmical pieces are often enhanced with precious and semi-precious stones, which reflect her particular love of flower colours. Rashmi is still training at City Lit, London and experimenting with new jewellery techniques. Her company is called Prema Sara and this will be her first museum shop collection.
