A variety of building challenges will be set over the sessions. These challenges will cover basic engineering knowledge and will begin by looking at which are the strongest shapes for constructing structures, different ways of connecting shapes for different purposes, building in moving parts etc. Each challenge will link with real engineering design projects. Gradually children will move onto building structures with motors and even remote controls. The majority of challenges will be done using the K'nex building system, but Lego and Meccano will also be used at other stages. The aim of the club is to impart basic engineering knowledge whilst stimulating the imagination and creative problem solving skills of each child.
Parents and carers of all children are welcome to stay and have fun learning, building and solving challenges with their children. Please note that children under the age of 8yrs must be accompanied by an adult.
Challenges set will depend on children's age and ability.
